Photographer (Tuesdays & Fridays)

The Role

Joining MFM team members and volunteers during programs, such as community markets and bulk food deliveries, to capture significant moments and connections using a DSLR or other professional digital camera.

  • The exact locations for this role will vary depending on the program, but it will always be within HRM. This is an infrequent role and you can expect to be contacted a few times per season.

  • You are reliable, respectful, and friendly. You have working photography skills and knowledge of Google Drive. You have an eye for capturing emotion and community through photography. You are comfortable asking for consent to take photos and are sensitive to diverse individual experiences and situations.

  • You will be required to attend a MFM Volunteer orientation, and then you will also receive in-person training for this role from the MFM Team

SENIORS DELIVERY (FAIRVIEW)

The Role

This role is responsible for assembling and delivering grocery orders to seniors within the Fairview community who may be unable to attend the market. A vulnerable sector background check is required for this role. Access to a vehicle is preferred.

  • This take place during the the Fairview Saturday shift and has a commitment of 8:30am - 11:30am, starting and ending at Titus Smith Memorial Park 44 Vimy Ave, Halifax.

  • This is a great role for outgoing and friendly people and can also do some lifting and moving of produce. You like being part of a team but are happy to work independently. You are comfortable talking to and cashing out customers. You have a completed Criminal Record/ Vulnerable Sector Check.

  • You will receive an in-person orientation and one-on-one support from the MFM team.

    The North End Saturday shifts are 11:45am - 2:30pm, at the North Memorial Public Library at 2285 Gottingen Street, Halifax.

MARKET PREP (Tuesdays & Fridays)

The Role

Join us in rolling up our sleeves on Tuesday or Friday mornings to help prepare bulk produce for our markets at our home-space in Dartmouth. The Market Prep role involves counting, weighing, and portioning produce and helping to set up the space for the Market later in the day. This is a great role for those who like to work with their hands in a team environment.

  • Market Prep takes place at the Home of Mobile Food Market -

    26 Courtney Rd. Every Friday, from 10:00am - 12:00pm.

  • First and foremost, you’re reliable.You have good attention to detail and enjoy working alongside others. This is physical work, that involves handling and bagging food, generally 25lbs and under, carrying /setting up tables, chairs, market signs, etc.

  • You will be required to attend a MFM Volunteer orientation, and then you will also receive in-person training for this role from the MFM Team

MARKET ASSISTANT (Tuesdays & Saturdays)

The Role

This exciting role provides an opportunity to work on the ground in communities by providing support in the successful operation of our market days. Responsibilities include assisting in set-up and take-down, working cooperatively with community volunteers, greeting guests, handling cash, restocking produce, and working to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
